Roundabout

I come from a family background of singers and music appreciators. Joined local heavy metal band Fatal Vision (covers and originals) from age 14 to 17. Played guitar in hardcore punk band The Sweet Dudes (originals and covers) on and off from 1989 to 1995.

Sang for cover bands Stonehenge (1989), The Roaches (1998 to 2002), and outlaw country band Deadman Serenade (2015). The Counterclockwise (originals, 1999 to 2003) has two EPs that are nearly impossible to find. Blind Addiction (covers and originals) is the band I am most associated with in the Midland area (1990 to 1997) and had one LP.

I stepped away from the music scene for a decade (2003 to 2013) before coming back with a garage doom two-piece called Seritas (2013 to 2018) that I sang and played guitar for. I also sing with Mr. E (covers, 2023 to now), and I am probably best known for singing in traditional doom metal band Cruthu (originals, 2016 to now) out of Lansing.

I am originally from the Tri-Cities and have played guitar for over 40 years.

Performed gigs in the Tri-Cities and around Michigan with the bands Traffic Jam, Revere Park, Blues Controversy, The Scott Hozzle Band and most recently Dirty Work. Also spent a number of years performing as an acoustic project.

I am a gear head and am constantly fighting off the urge to buy more gear. GAS: Gear Acquisition Syndrome.

I started playing guitar when I was 8 years old and switched to the bass at 11. I joined my first band when I was 16. Over the years I have played with several bands in the Tri-Cities in addition to a few of my church's worship bands. I enjoy playing a variety of styles and always look forward to jamming with fellow musicians from various backgrounds.

I have a degree in audio engineering, and my wife Kristine and I own a local music store in Midland called Rock Solid Music. I currently play with two bands full time, Qorky and now Roundabout. You may also see me pop up here and there with other local bands in the area.

Chris began marching and banging the drum at a very early age in his auntie's drum and baton corps. He continued growing as a drummer spending time listening to his father play guitar on his favorite music: The Beatles, The Stones, Chuck Berry, to name a few.

Chris has had the opportunity to study music and perform with a wide variety of musical groups over the years, from classical and concert to jazz, pop and rock. More recently he is most grateful to be able to perform with and learn from so many talented musicians and groups in the Tri-City area. Drumming with Roundabout is an absolute pleasure.

I began playing the clarinet in elementary school and learned to play the sax in the tenth grade, about 1973. I started a cover band (Lowdown) with high school friends soon after and have played in such groups continuously ever since.

After relocating to Midland in 1981, I co-founded The Blues Controversy, The Chromatic Effect and DOSand, and The Midland Saxophone Quartet. I wrote and recorded music, largely instrumental smooth jazz songs, for four CDs. I was also a member of The Hit Men, Cool Lemon Jazz and, briefly, Stone Street Revival.

I retired as a chemical engineer in 2019. I have been a long-time member of musical ensembles at The First United Methodist Church in Midland and am currently active in the church's praise band and the handbell choir. My wife Geri and I have two grown children and two grandchildren.

When I was in 5th grade, my dad rented a kinda shoddy cornet from Grinnell's in Midland, and I started playing in the school band program. My folks soon got me a better horn. Starting in high school, I got to play as a church, wedding and special events musician. I worked in the pit orchestras for numerous area high school musicals and the Bay City Players.

A decade or so ago, I got a chance to play with my brother (Rosco, if you know you know), John Anderson and Bill Bressette in a great horn band called Blues Controversy. I also enjoyed performing popular music all around Michigan for several years with the popular Cool Lemon Band. More recently I am a regular player in the Midland Concert Band, the Touch of Brass Quintet, and the Blast From The Past big band.

It is great to be reunited with John and Bill in a horn band, and I am very happy to be joining in with these other great musicians in Roundabout. P.S. I now own and play several (too many?) not-shoddy horns. H.A.S.: Horn Acquisition Syndrome.

I have been playing the trombone since fifth grade, when I first joined my school's band program, and I have continued playing for more than 15 years since. Over that time I have had the chance to perform with several groups, including Cool Lemon Band and the Midland Community Concert Band, before joining Roundabout. It was during my time with Cool Lemon that I met John and Dave, and I am proud to be playing in the horn section with them both in this new group.

Music has given me the opportunity to perform all across Michigan, with concerts in Grand Rapids, Detroit, Holland, Houghton, and many places in between. Some of my favorite memories have been making music on stage at events like Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts or the Detroit Jazz Festival. Every band I have been part of has helped me grow as a musician, and I am excited to keep playing and making music with this new group of fantastic musicians.
